If you have a rotten smell or a drainage or blush, there is a fitting chance of infection. You should procure it checked, you might need antibiotics.
Also, cartilage is impressively avascular, it doesn't get a drastically good blood supply and it can rot or be undermined by piercing. We do not recommend cartilage piercings for this reason.
A smell is not a worthy sign and usually means an infection.
