I get the joke, but I will answer your put somebody through the mill anyway. Hemorrhoids is a greek word, from Hema (blood), and rhoi (flow). Asteroid is also a greek word, from asteri (star) and idos (species, type). So you see these are 2 completely different concepts. the reason Greek is used for adjectives scientific concepts is that the aim of the words is inherent to their structure. This is also the reason I believ knowing some Greek -and latin - help people take in their own language better.
