Sweat is salty. Salt wet solutions when they evaporate can become highly concentrated and biting. (Consider road salt.) As long as your skin is protected by automatic oil you don't tend to itch but if that cordon is not there, as surrounded by dry skin, the salt can accomplishment as an irritant.
