my nephew when he was a child use to come up with black cough syrup would turn him black so we had to hold his antenna and etc.''Why is cough syrup made surrounded by differant colors?
Marketing strategy.
So it tastes better. When I be a child all cough mixtures be rotten.
Most cough mixtures contain ingredients that are antiallergic, antispasmodic and anti-tussive, which act as broncho soothers, cough suppressants and broncho dilators. To costume the taste and construct it palatable, manufacturers use different colors and flavors, even basis. Thats why all syrups are sweet. The colours distinguish the company it is made by.
the colourings that are put within. or the other ingredients mixing to make that colour. or only purely for advertising...would you want to drink something that is to say purple?
For people close to me who want to try all the different colors to see if they really aroma like what they're supposed to.
One, it help to distinguish the different types of cold/cough syrups made by the same company. (Have you ever notice how many different variety that one company produces. Of course, each one is for different symptoms.)
Two, to contest the flavor. Would you want orange flavored syrup to be precise blue or orange? Grape flavor is purple, cherry is red, bubblegum is pink.
Was the stuff your nephew drank supposed to be approaching licorice?
